The HappySmart system is not simply a collection of standalone devices — it is a fully integrated ecosystem where every component works seamlessly together, with Home Assistant serving as the central hub controlling lighting, door locks, cameras, and health-monitoring sensors.
The backbone of the HappySmart ecosystem is a Zigbee mesh network, where each device acts simultaneously as a node and a repeater, extending signal coverage throughout the home without requiring additional Wi-Fi access points. The Zigbee protocol supports over 2,000 device models from leading brands including Aqara, Sonoff, Xiaomi, and IKEA — all managed centrally within Home Assistant.
HappySmart’s room-by-room design assigns safety functions by space: the bedroom receives an mmWave FP2 sensor for breath and fall detection alongside a Smart Lock and auto-dimming night lights; the bathroom gets a waterproof IP67 emergency button with grab bar sensors; the living room monitors PM2.5 and CO2 air quality; and the kitchen integrates gas leak detection and smoke alarms into the automation pipeline.
The Emergency Contact Protocol operates across three tiers: when mmWave sensors detect no movement for over 30 minutes during night hours, the system sends a LINE alert to family (Tier 1); if unacknowledged within 5 minutes, it places an automatic VoIP call (Tier 2); if still unacknowledged, it contacts emergency services via a GSM module (Tier 3).
The Family Dashboard — built with Home Assistant Lovelace UI — displays real-time data including movement status per room, PM2.5 levels, humidity, temperature, and door lock state. Remote family members can access it via Nabu Casa cloud service at $6.50/month, or through a self-hosted WireGuard VPN at zero monthly cost.
