In the first generation of Smart Homes, technology was visibly present: touch panel switches, control screens mounted on walls. Ambient Intelligence represents the next evolution — technology disappears into the home, which senses and responds without requiring commands.
Invisible Sensors in the Home
mmWave Radar Sensor embedded in ceilings: detects the precise location and movement of every occupant with 10–30 cm accuracy — without cameras, preserving complete privacy. Detects breathing rate and heart rate through walls at 1–3 metre range. Fall detection accuracy reaches 90–95%.
Air Quality Sensor in HVAC Grille: PM2.5, CO2, VOC, and Humidity embedded within the air conditioning outlet, reporting real-time values and automatically commanding HVAC and air purifiers when thresholds are exceeded: PM2.5 above 25 µg/m³, CO2 above 1,000 ppm, VOC above 0.5 mg/m³.
Smart Flooring: Floors with embedded Pressure Sensors (in select systems) recognize each occupant’s unique Gait Pattern, detecting changes in walking pattern that may indicate early-stage health concerns.
Ambient Display: Information Without Interruption
Smart Mirror in bathroom: displays temperature, AQI, time, and important alerts at the mirror edge during morning routines. Display deactivates when no occupant is present.
Ambient Light Notification: rather than audio alerts or vibration, the system communicates through color and intensity of light — warmth gradually increases as a scheduled appointment approaches; a gentle blue light in the corridor when a visitor rings the doorbell.
Deliberate Voice UI Zone Design
Smart Speaker placement is designed to ensure complete room coverage while preventing cross-room command triggering — a bedroom command should not activate the kitchen Smart Speaker. Acoustic Boundary design between zones ensures Voice UI operates accurately without false triggers.
Wellness Integration via LINE OA
Ambient Intelligence data is compiled into a weekly Wellness Summary: average indoor air quality scores, sleep quality score (from breathing and movement analysis), and alerts if concerning patterns emerge — such as consistently elevated AQI over several consecutive days.
