Four-Scenario Analysis Framework
Scenario 1: Current — Couple (or single occupant) — Master bedroom as Suite, second room as study or guest room. Requires a quiet Home Office and open relaxation space.
Scenario 2: Young Family (3–5 years ahead) — 1–2 young children. Study becomes children’s room. Requires indoor play space, Sightlines from kitchen to play area, and corridors wide enough for a pram.
Scenario 3: Established Family (10–15 years ahead) — Teenagers requiring separate bedrooms, higher privacy, Sound Isolation between zones, and sufficient bathrooms for household size.
Scenario 4: Empty Nester / Elderly (20–25 years ahead) — Children have left. Reduced maintenance burden desired. Ground floor bedroom, zero-threshold bathroom, Accessibility features, and space for a carer if needed.
Scenario Compatibility Scoring
BIM assigns a Scenario Compatibility Score to each design option: designs that perform well across all four scenarios score highest. Designs optimized for the current scenario but poor in future scenarios score low.
Design elements that score highly across all scenarios include: 90+ cm corridors, ground-floor bathroom, Convertible Rooms, strong Natural Light in common areas, and Circulation that does not intersect Privacy Zones.
