Design Integration Principles: Technology as Part of Design

How many sensors does Activity-Based Automation require per room?
Typically 2–4 sensors per room: a Presence Sensor (mmWave), Temperature/Humidity Sensor, Lux Sensor, and CO2/VOC Sensor for kitchen areas. Multi-sensor fusion provides significantly more accurate Activity Detection than any single sensor.
Is Motorised Partition difficult to install and does it require high maintenance?
Installation must occur during construction or fit-out, as Track rails need to be embedded in the floor and ceiling. Maintenance is minimal — Track lubrication every 1–2 years.
Does a Smart Mirror Display require continuous internet?
Basic data like time and indoor temperature runs on Local Network. Calendar and news require a Cloud Connection. If internet is lost, the mirror continues displaying all Local data normally.
How is a ceiling-mounted Murphy Bed different from a wall-fold Murphy Bed?
Wall-fold Murphy Beds are the common type, suitable for homes with a free wall. Ceiling-mounted Beds use a motorised lift, ideal for homes with sufficient ceiling height (≥ 3 metres) where all wall surfaces are needed for other functions.
